We'll start with scissors, the first tool you must obtain. My advice is to buy the best you can afford.
The other two essential tools are hackle pliers and a dubbing needle for applying varnish.

Slightly longer, probably more precise, perhaps the best one in the range, serrated blade.

With these you can even cut peacock herl fibres in half.

These scissors have a Tungsten insert in the blade, they are extremely
