Sea Trout can be caught in daytime on slightly coloured water with the fly but most are taken at night. Wait until the sun goes down and the grass becomes black, when the first bat appears the time is right to get stuck in. Two hours later it will go a bit dead, time to sit down for a coffee, change to larger fly and start again. Don't be put off night fishing by a slightly coloured water, one of my best nights (11 fish) was in coloured water when all other fishers who went home said "it wa'int fish the nite".
On any line purchased, we can fit best quality braided loops to each end with Zap glue for a charge of £4.00, if you purchase a line plus any fly reel we can fit the line to the reel for you and supply quality braided backing plus loops on both ends. We charge £7.00 for a Trout reel or £12.00 for a Salmon reel. You are assured that this is professionally fitted and fully backed up.  Price includes loops and best quality backing.
We can usually do this while you wait if you call in to our shop,
this service is also available to our Internet customers.

Spey casting requires fine line control, amount of line exposed to your rear is also important. During the concluding moments of a Spey cast
a D loop is formed alongside and slightly to your rear, optimum rod
loading is achieved when the D loop is at maximum stretch and the
head and rear taper are almost outside the rod tip.

On large rivers there is usually plenty of room for spey casting, on smaller rivers a shorter head, which loads the rod with a shorter line length can be a great advantage. With this range of  lines you have a choice to find the perfect line for your requirements.
TIP: Sink Tip sinks at approx 1.5ips. Intermediate sinks at approx 2.3ips

1D SPEY LINES Ideal for small rivers where bank side vegetation and steep banks limit your back cast area.
This is the line we would suggest if you are not yet an expert caster.
2D SPEY LINES Suitable for Spey casting in medium rivers where vegetation or steep banks have only minimal impact on the back cast area.  If you are a smitchen above average then this is the line for you.
3D SPEY LINES Suitable for Spey casting in larger rivers where vegetation is not a problem.    A line for the more proficient caster.

TIP: Usually a 13' takes an 8/9 line, 14' takes 9/10 and 15' takes 10/11.
        You will know this but a more powerful rod needs a heavier line to
        bring out the casting ability.

The Scandinavian Spey line profiles meet the demands of salmon and sea trout anglers fishing with double handed rods in restricted areas, where the creation of a large D loop is near impossible.

By combining the best of the Scandinavian Underhand style of casting and shooting head technology Snowbee have created what is in effect
a Spey type shooting head which loads the rod quickly at short range, shoots like a dream and has the turnover of a traditional Spey line with no backing knots.     44ft head with 150ft factory fitted running line.
